Strategy · Commercial Advisory · Board

RachelMurphy

Most advisers have studied the game.
I've played it.

Built businesses from nothing. Sold them for eight figures. Helped create £250M of value in the last three years. I bring that experience into the boardroom as a strategic adviser who has been in the position you're in now.

Rachel Murphy

Most strategic advisers have worked in big organisations. Few have built one from nothing, sold it for eight figures, and then helped others do the same. I've done both. I also bring something harder to put on a CV, genuine energy, and a network built over 25 years that I'm not shy about using.

My career spans 25 years across KPMG, Accenture, Kier, CDW, and the NHS, including leading the launch of the NHS App, now used by over 40 million people. I've helped create £250M of value for businesses in the last three years. The experience is real and the track record is there. But what I've found matters most to the people I work with is that I've made the same kinds of decisions they're facing now, and I can talk about what that was actually like.

I work with a small number of organisations at any one time, typically one or two engagements per year. Board coaching for Segro. Design and delivery of a leadership programme for the top 50 leaders at Legal & General, three years running. I sit alongside the CEO or chair, get properly under the skin of the business, and help shape the decisions that matter.

If you're looking for someone to validate the current plan, I'm not the right fit. If you want someone who will sharpen the strategy and tell you what they actually think, let's talk.

What clients say

"Her work with the Digital Board has created a best-in-class capability and accelerated our road to maturity tenfold. She is able to place herself into a different industry, see the benefits and pitfalls of digital change, and help leaders build for a future."

Rich Corbridge, CIO, FBCS — Digital Board, Segro

"What Rachel built for us wasn't a leadership programme in the conventional sense. It was an intervention. Fifty of our most senior leaders, three years, one consistent theme, authenticity, and a facilitator brave enough to hold the room to it. The impact was real and lasting."

Jeff Davies, CFO — Legal & General

What I bring

Strategic clarity · Commercial rigour · Independent challenge · Honest counsel · Founder's instinct

I am the intervention.

What I Do

01
Strategic Advisory & Transformation

Senior independent advisory at board and leadership level. Helping organisations navigate complexity, make better decisions under pressure, and lead transformation that actually lands.

02
Commercial Strategy

Growth strategy, market positioning, revenue architecture. I bring a founder's commercial instinct and a track record of building businesses that have sold. The advice is grounded in what actually creates value.

03
Board Advisory

Working directly with chairs and boards as an independent voice. I ask the questions the executive team can't always ask themselves, and I give boards the external perspective they need to govern well.

04
Leadership & Culture

Advisory and coaching at the top of organisations on leadership effectiveness, team dynamics, and cultural alignment. Design and delivery of a leadership programme for the top 50 leaders at Legal & General, three years running. Board-level coaching for Segro.

05
Public Speaking

Keynotes, panels, and leadership off-sites. I speak on strategy, commercial leadership, transformation, and what building and selling a business actually involves. Not the polished version, the real one.

I speak on strategy, commercial leadership, transformation, and what building and selling a business actually involves. Not the polished version, the real one. Audiences tend to remember the difference.

Previous stages include AMEX, Northern Trust, NHS, BMW, The BFA, and more. Available for keynotes, panels, and leadership off-sites.

One Slot
Left in 2026.

I take on one or two strategic advisory engagements per year. One place remains for 2026.
